We all know it: imagining the future is a human need. This is why the city, our city, has changed in a thousand years. The acceleration of political movements, the economical vitality, the advent of new technologies of information, the scientific developments and the modification of the socio-cultural context have modified its image.

Will the celebration of the Millennium mirror the image of the present-day city?

Maybe we won’t be able to avoid a work of memory which is the very essence of its existence.

Let’s consider the present as a limited instant and let’s dare dream of tomorrow, picturing with pride a city whose economical and social system would serve the community. Let’s dare dream about everyone’s joy to participate in the celebration of this event.  Let’s dare dream of the legitimacy of gathering all together to say our happiness to live in Neuchâtel, in an astonishing and grandiose setting.
